Fingerprint Laboratory deals with all types of forensic services related to fingerprints, whether it be development, lifting the fingerprints from any surface, matching the samples for the purpose of comparison, etc.

Development of the fingerprints followed by lifting incorporates the use of various methods such as physical, chemical, or fuming in order to develop fingerprints at the actual site where the fingerprints are located and then its preservation by lifting.

Another major task performed is matching of fingerprints, which comprises of laboratory examination of fingerprints, in order to determine if the questioned and standard fingerprints provided are the same or not.

Our services for fingerprints are not limited here but are extended to fingerprinting for visa/ immigration/ police clearance certificates (PCC) for different countries. We provide PCC for countries such as Australia, Canada, China, California, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, and several more. These services are provided under the name of Real Scan Biometrics, which incorporates the recording of digital rolled fingerprint impressions, digital flat fingerprint impressions, and recording ten digits by fingerprint ink.

Our well-qualified and experienced experts work for the completion of the tasks with utmost dedication. With their expertise, following standard protocols, our experts analyze cases carefully and provide their unbiased opinion and forensic report.

The fingerprint division of Sherlock Institute of Forensic Sciences encompasses a large number of services such as fingerprint development from different surfaces, identification of prints, and pattern analysis in a civil or criminal case. The process of development requires making prints visible via different chemical as well as powder methods which follow with the usage of enhancement technique for comparison of the print in order to give an opinion. Our area of expertise does not limit to this we provide service of fingerprinting for a visa, immigration, and PCC too.

Our laboratory treats every piece of evidence as an important one so our experts consider fingerprints as fragile evidence, hence development is done in a sophisticated manner, and comparison procedure is done by experts who have an eye for spotting regularities or irregularities.

The very aim of our fingerprint department is to provide an unbiased finding and help law enforcement agency that helps reduce the time taken by them in the investigation or to establish the identity of the culprit. To achieve this we follow strict standards and procedures laid down by the organization.

LIFTING AND DEVELOPMENT OF FINGERPRINTS – It includes visiting a crime scene and searching for the visible fingerprints, as well as the latent fingerprints (which need to be developed by special techniques) present at the location. This is continued by lifting these fingerprints for matching in the laboratory.

MATCHING OF FINGERPRINTS – It deals with matching the questioned prints found on a document or lifted from a crime scene or some object, with the known set of fingerprints taken by the suspect or concerned person. This is done to verify whether both set of fingerprints belong to the same individual or not.

FINGERPRINTING FOR VISA/ IMMIGRATION/ PCC – This is done for the migrants traveling from one country to another. We provide them with a complete set of information for the same and prepare their fingerprint card, for the required purposes.

FINGERPRINT KIT – This kit comprises various tools and equipment, which are required to lift the fingerprints from the crime scene and also to take fingerprints from some suspect/ concerned person. It majorly comprises of fingerprinting ink, roller, fingerprint cards, tiles, fluorescent powders, camel hair brushes, lifting tape, superglue, scale, spraying bottle, etc.

LIVESCAN AND FINGERPRINT ENROLMENT SYSTEM – It is an electronic device made to take digital fingerprints. This is a much accurate and efficient method of taking fingerprints, where there is no chance of smudging, partial prints, etc. which might be encountered in taking prints manually.

STEREO-MICROSCOPE – It is used to get an enlarged view of fingerprints, which are used to carefully observe the minute details of minutiae and ridge characteristics for matching.

DSLR CAMERA – The camera is used to take high-resolution images of the exhibits as well as the results for their preservation in records. This is specially done for lifted fingerprints.

SCANNER – It is used to scan the exhibit (document containing fingerprint/s) at high resolution, which is required to study minute details of fingerprint at high magnification.

GRIDS AND RULERS – These are used for marking on the document to measure the size of fingerprint on any document or surface. These are also used for live-size photography.
